From Raleigh and I-40
Take I-40 towards Durham.
Take the Hwy 147 (Durham Freeway) exit towards Durham.
Continue on Hwy 147 and exit at Duke Street.
Duke Street is one-way, so you don't have to decide which way
to go.
Continue on Duke Street through downtown.
Continue to the light at Markham Ave. and turn left.
Go two blocks to the stop sign at Watts Street and go right.
Go two blocks to 1202 Watts Street.
From Chapel Hill and 15-501
Take 15-501 towards Durham.
WATCH OUT. When you get close to Durham, 15-501 SPLITS into
TWO sections:
one part becomes 15-501 business (in the left hand lane)
the other part becomes 15-501 bypass (in the 2 right hand lanes)
You want 15-501 BYPASS, so be in the right hand lanes.
Go a couple of miles on the bypass and take the Hwy 147 EXIT.
Stay all the way to the right to exit (do not go straight).
Go a couple of miles on Hwy 147 and EXIT at Broad St./Swift
Ave. (Exit will list either or both streets)
At the end of the exit ramp, turn left. (Get in the right hand
lane immediately.)
Cross over the highway and over the railroad tracks and TURN
RIGHT at the stoplight onto Main Street.
(If you stop at the light, you might notice Whole Foods in the
shopping center in front of you on the left hand side of the
street.)
Go to the second light and turn left on Buchanan.
Go to the first stop light and turn right on Trinity Ave.
Go to the blinking light and turn left on Watts St.
That will be the 500 block of Watts St. You need to keep going
for 7 blocks until you get to 1202 Watts. You will pass a lovely
old school on the right. You will pass a church and then a synagogue.
1202 Watts was once an old country grocery store and looks like
it.
From the North (Richmond and I-85)
Take I-85 South towards Durham.
Exit at Duke Street/Gregson Street.
Turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto Duke Street.
Very soon (right by Northgate Shopping Center) the road will
curve to the right and will put you on Gregson Street.
Continue on Gregson for a few blocks to the light at Markham
Ave. and go right on Markham.
Go two blocks to the stop sign at Watts Street and go right.
Go two blocks to 1202 Watts Street.
From the West (Greensboro and I-85)
Take I-85 North from Greensboro towards Durham.
Exit at Hwy 147.
Go a few miles on Hwy 147 and EXIT at Broad St./Swift Ave. (Exit
will list either or both streets)
