Information For Artists

This page will include technical information for artists displaying work in the Art and the Feminine Divine exhibit.

Pick-up Instructions:

Unsold artwork will be picked up on Sunday and Monday, May 14-15, 2006, 2:00-5:00 pm in the venue where the work is hanging. If your work sells, you will be contacted before May 14. If in doubt about the location of your work, come to 117 Market Street (see directions below.) Work at Okun-Stern Loft can only be picked up on Monday May 15. If you have questions, contact RCWMS (see above.)

As the Call for Work stated, the times for delivering your art for Art & the Feminine Divine are:

Sunday April 9, 2:00-4:00 pm
Monday April 10, 2:00-6:00 pm

Label - Your piece(s) need to be clearly labeled with your name, the title of the piece, and the price or NFS.

Roadwork - There is street work in progress in downtown Durham. Do not be alarmed. Think of it as creating beauty amidst the rubble.

Landmark - If you are familiar with the Marriott Hotel in downtown Durham, Market Street is a little one-way street that dead-ends into the side entrance of the Marriott (the entrance on Chapel Hill Street).

If you get lost   - Ask for directions to the downtown Marriott or call them (919) 768-6000 and they'll give you directions from anywhere. We are not using the Marriott, but they are open 24/7. Market Street runs into the Chapel Hill Street side of the hotel.

Parking - There is on-street parking on Market Street and the streets nearby.

Driving Directions to 117 Market Street

from Brightleaf Square in Durham

·   Take West Main Street towards downtown
·   You will then go through 2 stoplights. (When you see the Southbank Building on your left, the street becomes one-way. Go straight through the 3 rd stoplight (at Morris St. at the end of the bank building) and you'll be on East Chapel Hill Street.
·   Go one more block on East Chapel Hill Street and the first street on your right will be Market (no street sign). You CAN'T turn because it is one-way coming towards you. (Street sign is gone because of roadwork.)
·   Go a few yards further and turn RIGHT the first time you can, onto Corcoran. (Street sign is on your left.)
·   Go two short blocks and turn Right onto Main Street.
·   Go one block and turn RIGHT onto Market Street. (Sign is on left.)
·   117 Market is in the middle of the block.
·   Park on the street.

from I-85
·   Take the Gregson Street exit.
·   Take Gregson Street until you hit West Main Street (at Brightleaf Square).
·   Turn LEFT onto Main St. and follow directions from Brightleaf Square above.

from the Durham Expressway (Hwy 147)
·   Take the Roxboro Street exit.
·   Turn towards downtown (left if you're coming from Chapel Hill, right if you're coming from Raleigh) when you hit Roxboro Street.
·   Go under the underpass and up the hill.
·   Turn LEFT onto Main Street.
·   Go three and a half blocks and turn RIGHT onto Market Street.
·   117 Market is in the middle of the block.
·   Park on the street.

from Raleigh
·   Take I-40 to Hwy. 147 (Durham Expressway)
·   Follow directions from the Durham Expressway (above)

from Chapel Hill
·   Take 15-501 to Durham
·   At the 15-501 bypass/business split, bear right & STAY ON THE BYPASS
·   Once on the bypass, drive for a few miles and look for the "Hwy. 147/Durham Downtown" exit. Take the exit onto Hwy. 147 (also called the Durham Expressway)
·   Follow directions from the Durham Expressway (above)
