TARA & THE BLACK MADONNA: A Weekend Retreat at the Beach

During this retreat, we will focus on the history and legends of the Black Madonna and explore her connections to Kali of India and Tara the female Buddha of Tibet. There will be plenty time to meditate or relax by the water’s edge.
Retreat Leader
Rachael Wooten is a psychologist and Jungian analyst who has practiced meditation in the Tibetan tradition for eleven years. She assisted her teacher, Lodro Tulku Rinpoche, in translating a set of twenty-one Tara meditation practices. Rachael works, writes, and studies the interconnection of psychic wounding and healing with religious experience and spiritual practice.
Time and Place
The retreat for women begins with supper on Friday, June 13, 2008. You may arrive as early as 4:00 p.m. We will end with lunch on Sunday, June 15, 2008.
Trinity Center is a beautiful retreat center on a barrier island near Morehead City, NC. Trinity stretches from the sound side to the ocean side of the island. Herons fish along the edges of the central pond. Comfortable cottages with private baths are nestled into a maritime forest. Please bring walking shoes, comfortable clothes, a bathing suit, a towel or yoga mat, pen and paper and art supplies if you have any. Sheets and towels will be provided. The retreat cost is $400 for a single room, or $375 double occupancy (includes room, meals, and program fee).
